In eastern Saxony, significantly more young people have started training in the skilled trades. Those interested still have a chance of finding a training place.

Significantly more women and men have started an apprenticeship in the East Saxon skilled trades this year than in the previous year. According to the Dresden Chamber of Crafts, the number of newly concluded training contracts rose by 6.2 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 1,994 new training contracts were signed in the Dresden Chamber district at the start of the new training year, compared to 1,877 in the previous year. This means that the number of trainees is growing for the fourth year in a row.

"This development shows that companies are placing a strong focus on training and that young people also know that the skilled trades in the region are an attractive training and economic sector with all opportunities open to them," said Andreas Brzezinski, Managing Director of the Dresden Chamber of Skilled Crafts. It is important to emphasize that even now, those who have made up their minds at short notice still have the opportunity to start an apprenticeship in the skilled trades. This is because some companies are still looking for suitable apprentices for the training year that has just started.

The skilled trades companies in the districts of Meißen, Bautzen, Görlitz, Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains and in the state capital Dresden are training apprentices in more than 80 professions.
