As part of the coal phase-out, the federal government is making money available to help the affected mining areas with structural change.

The large district town of Weißwasser and the municipality of Krauschwitz can expect to receive a total of 13.4 million euros from structural change funds for coal regions. The Ministry of Regional Development in Dresden announced on Monday that more than 2.2 million euros will be used to fund a drinking water network system operated by Kommunale Versorgungsgesellschaft Lausitz mbH Weißwasser. It is intended to replace the supply from the Schwarze Pumpe waterworks and ensure sufficient drinking and process water for the population as well as industry and commerce in the future. According to the information, the municipality of Krauschwitz will receive 11.2 million euros for the construction and equipping of a multi-purpose building. In addition to its administration, it will also house two doctors' surgeries and a mobile care service.
