Some cities and districts in Saxony are also affected by the nationwide warning strike in local transport on Thursday and Friday. The trade union Verdi is calling for strikes in Dresden, Chemnitz and Plauen as well as in the districts of Zwickau, Erzgebirgskreis, Mittelsachsen, Meißen, Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, Bautzen and Görlitz on both days, according to a press release. However, operations will not be completely suspended in the affected areas.
According to information for passengers (as of Tuesday), trains, suburban trains and streetcars as well as city buses operated by Dresden's public transport company Verkehrsbetriebe (VVO), which covers Dresden, Meißen and the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains, will run as scheduled. Buses and ferries operated by regional transport companies, on the other hand, are at a standstill.
In Chemnitz, several bus routes are expected to be severely restricted and canceled, according to a statement from Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG. Regionalverkehr Westsachsen GmbH has announced considerable restrictions for Zwickau and is asking passengers to find out about alternative connections.
Regionalverkehr Erzgebirge GmbH (RVE) is expecting extensive cancellations for the Erzgebirgskreis district, according to a statement. It is expected that all of RVE's regional and urban services will be affected from the start to the end of operations. It can be assumed that school transport will also not be able to run regularly.
The district of Central Saxony announced that the warning strike would have a massive impact on all Regiobus services, especially on commuter and school transport.
No buses or streetcars will be running in Görlitz city transport on either day of the warning strike, according to the Görlitz transport company. It was not possible to coordinate an emergency timetable. According to Regionalbus Oberlausitz GmbH, considerable restrictions are to be expected in the district of Bautzen.
