Overnight camping in the open air in the Saxon Switzerland National Park is prohibited from February to mid-June. The national park and forest administration in Bad Schandau, the DAV and BUND state association announced on Friday that the so-called "Boofen" will be paused to protect nature. The ban is intended to reduce the disturbance to animals during their breeding season.
Boofing has been banned for several months of the year for two years, they said. Mountain sports and nature conservation associations, the Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association and nature conservation authorities had introduced the interim ban on boofing in order to curb overnight stays in the open air and thus protect the animals that breed or give birth during this time.
