According to Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU), Saxony's CDU-SPD minority government has made a successful start to the legislative period. Numerous projects have already been launched in the first 100 days, Kretschmer made clear. "We have made a good start as a government." At the same time, he thanked all members of parliament for their constructive participation and support in the process.
Consultation mechanism between government and opposition
By this, he meant the representatives of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, the Greens and the Left Party. The AfD does not participate in the so-called coalition mechanism between government and opposition. They are available for cooperation, but not within the framework of this "democracy simulation", as AfD leader Jörg Urban described the procedure.
It is intended to involve the opposition in the government's plans at an early stage and allow them to implement their own projects. The CDU and SPD are ten votes short of a majority in parliament.
Kretschmer: More speed in cutting red tape and asylum procedures
"The new government is in the process of speeding up and streamlining things like asylum procedures, cutting red tape and strengthening the economy. Because the financial situation is difficult, we are required to budget particularly wisely," said Kretschmer. That is why priorities are also being set for education, strong municipalities, security and good coexistence. The government is working to ensure that companies are able to settle here.
Köpping assures reliability
Kretschmer's deputy, Social Affairs Minister Petra Köpping (SPD), assured the coalition of reliability. "Despite difficult financial conditions, we have our sights firmly set on the major tasks: We are committed to good medical care in urban and rural areas, good living conditions, social balance, for our elderly population as well as for our children and young people."
