The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) has quickly and easily cleared another hurdle for participation in the state elections in Saxony on September 1. BSW leader Sabine Zimmermann explained in Dresden on Wednesday that not only had the required 1000 signatures of supporters been handed over to the state election administration, but also almost 3000 completed forms, and saw this as a vote of confidence.

The people collecting the signatures were welcomed with open arms. Many people have high hopes that a new political force will offer constructive and well thought-out solutions to the pent-up problems in state politics, broaden the political spectrum and initiate real change.

Zimmermann also attributes the voters' approval to the peace policy advocated by the BSW with a focus on diplomacy. "People are fed up with more and more money being sent to Ukraine for more and more weapons - and more and more people dying as a result. This policy can't be right."

The state election committee will examine the submitted signatures and all other documents on July 5. This will also determine who can stand in the state election. In the previous week, the state election committee granted 59 parties and associations the right to participate in the election. The Sahra Wagenknecht alliance achieved 12.6 percent of the vote in the European elections in Saxony from a standing start. In recent polls, the party was polling up to 15 percent.
