Half a year after the first volume, the Saxon Court of Audit has published the second part of its 2024 annual report. As a result of extensive audits and analyses of the state budget and municipal budgets, the increasing number of areas "in which financial transparency is not sufficiently guaranteed" is striking, Court of Audit President Jens Michel told the German Press Agency.
The auditors also identified deficits in the digitalization of schools in the Free State. According to Michel, there are "still considerable differences between the individual schools". As a result, there is a risk "that equal education is not guaranteed for all learners in Saxony". In an advisory statement on the audit in this matter, he recommends, as an independent institution, "to take corrective action here".
The State Court of Audit, based in Döbeln, is an independent institution that audits the budget and economic management of the state and also carries out audits at local authority level.
