Thoroughness before speed is Michael Kretschmer's motto for forming a government. The economy wants stable conditions quickly so that things can pick up again.

The East German construction industry association is pushing for a quick formation of a government in Saxony, citing the difficult situation facing the industry in the Free State. "Haste is required: Building construction in Saxony slumped by almost nine percent in the first seven months of the year compared to the previous year," emphasized Managing Director Robert Momberg. Broken roads and dilapidated bridges are now a real competitive disadvantage and can no longer be ignored.

Saxony needs an efficient infrastructure and affordable housing

In view of the major challenges, it is necessary to take political responsibility and find viable compromises when forming a government, he said. A budget for the coming year is needed quickly. The available funds must be released immediately for construction projects. "The country needs affordable housing, an efficient infrastructure and prospects for construction workers."

Association calls for less bureaucracy for the construction industry

In addition, the bureaucratic burden must be noticeably reduced for companies. "This can only succeed if the state government seriously commits to reducing bureaucracy and finally cuts unnecessary regulations," explained Momberg. The attractiveness of construction in Saxony can be further strengthened through simplified award procedures, transparent award practices and improved payment practices for public contracts.

The Construction Industry Association East represents the interests of 260 construction companies with 20,000 employees in the states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
