Economics Minister Dulig emphasizes the positive effects of EU structural funds on Saxony's companies and jobs.

EU funding has strengthened Saxony's economy, according to Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD). "With the EU structural funds, we have achieved a lot for Saxony's economy in the past funding period and provided a tailwind," he said in a statement on Sunday. This will strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the long term, secure well-paid jobs and promote exchange and cooperation between business and science.

Dulig referred to the results of a study on the effectiveness of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the 2014-2020 funding period. The report was produced under the direction of the Gesellschaft für Finanz- und Regionalanalysen Münster. According to the report, the program implementation was successful overall. The measures proved to be effective and made a recognizable contribution to the desired objectives. The objectives were Strengthening research, technological development and innovation as well as the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting the reduction of CO2 emissions, risk prevention and sustainable urban development. "The study underlines once again: Europe is important for Saxony. Europe is important for our economy," said Dulig.

In the funding period examined, Saxony received 2.1 billion euros from the ERDF. This was used to implement more than 15,000 projects. In the current funding period (2021 to 2027), the Free State will receive around 1.95 billion euros.
