In the European election campaign, the AfD enfant terrible Krah had to hold back in the end. However, the MEP wants to get back into full swing in the upcoming state election campaign.

The AfD MEP Maximilian Krah, who is also controversial internally, has announced that he will be heavily involved in the state election campaign of his Saxon party association. "I've been asked by virtually every state parliament candidate. I will be touring the country," he said in a video interview on the right-wing portal "Deutschland-Kurier", which he distributed on the X platform. He will "do everything to ensure that the state election result is even better than the European election result".

Krah was the AfD's lead candidate in the European elections. However, following accusations of being close to Russia and China and statements about the National Socialist SS, the AfD leadership banned him from campaign appearances. Nevertheless, the right-wing ID group in the EU Parliament excluded the AfD from its ranks because of Krah and did not reinstate it after the election. The new AfD group in the European Parliament excluded Krah from its ranks; he now sits in Parliament for the party, but not as a member of the AfD group.

The AfD achieved 15.9% in the European elections. Ahead of the Saxon state elections in September, it is currently polling at 30 to 32 percent, just ahead of the CDU.
