The preliminary result confirms the projections: The previous coalition in Dresden no longer has a majority.

The previous Saxon coalition of CDU, Greens and SPD no longer has a majority in the new state parliament. This is the result of the distribution of seats announced by the state electoral officer last night with the provisional results of the state election. The three parties of the previous coalition led by Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) now have a total of 57 out of 120 seats.

The CDU became the strongest party with 42 seats (2019: 45). The AfD won 41 seats (38), while the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance, which ran for the first time, won 15. The SPD won 9 seats (10), while the Left Party (14) and the Greens (10) each sent 6 MPs to the new state parliament. The Free Voters are represented by one member of parliament: Matthias Berger won the direct mandate in the district of Leipzig Land 3.
