Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer has called for the deportation of migrants with multiple criminal convictions who have reached the age of 18, even if they have not committed a new crime. The CDU politician said in an interview with Sachsen Fernsehen on Friday afternoon that existing laws must be adapted to make this possible. "We give people protection. If they abuse our solidarity because they become criminals, and not because they parked in the wrong place, but constantly and above all with violence, then they have no right to be here."
"Refugee status must be withdrawn much more quickly if you become a criminal," Kretschmer said in the interview. Stronger external protection by the EU and further adjustments to benefit laws are also necessary. The number of refugees "must be reduced for the next few years", he demanded, citing a figure of 30,000, 40,000 or 50,000 instead of 300,000 asylum seekers per year. "So that integration can really take place," said Kretschmer. "We can only take in as many people as we can integrate." This is closely linked to the areas of the labor market, language courses, housing and schools.
