The Saxon state parliament will deal with urgent issues during Wednesday's topical hour (from 10.00 a.m.). The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) has put a debate on children's education on the agenda. The SPD would like to debate the upcoming special fund for infrastructure, which has been approved by the Bundestag and Bundesrat and will also benefit the Free State of Bavaria. At the request of the Greens, the debate will also focus on broken bridges and a sustainable infrastructure policy.
Later, the state parliament will be facing a premiere. For the first time since 1990, a bill proposed by the Left Party is likely to be successful. It would make May 8 a day of remembrance in Saxony and commemorate the liberation from National Socialism and the end of the war on May 8, 1945. The minority coalition of the CDU and SPD has signaled its approval.
The state parliament then has to decide on an AfD appointment. At the request of the CDU and SPD, Alexander Wiesner is to be recalled as Chairman of the Committee for Constitution, Law and Europe. Other parliamentary groups also consider the 35-year-old to be unacceptable. Among other things, he is accused of having employed two suspected members of the militant right-wing extremist group "Saxon Separatists" as a member of parliament. According to the rules of procedure, the state parliament can only dismiss a committee chairperson with a majority of its members - 61 out of 120 MPs.
