The 11th Saxon State Garden Show will take place in Auerbach and Rodewisch in 2029

The 11th Saxon State Garden Show is to take place in Auerbach and Rodewisch (Vogtland district) in 2029. "For the first time in Saxony, two cities with a joint concept will be hosting a state garden show," said Saxony's Environment Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Oschatz (district of North Saxony). The municipal cooperation is exemplary and is good for both towns and the Göltzsch Valley.

According to this, the total grant from the Free State for the preparation and implementation of the garden show amounts to a maximum of five million euros. It could also be used as an own contribution for funding from state, federal or EU programs. The long-term basic idea of the garden show is to create an urban and ecological open space link between the towns of Auerbach and Rodewisch through the Freudenthal valley.

According to the plans to date, the first core area in Rodewisch is located on the castle island and a sports facility. A cabaret stage, a small marquee and sanitary facilities are to be built on the island. For the sports facility, the concept envisages areas and space for sports, games and fitness.

The second core area in Auerbach is therefore located on the Freudenwiesen meadows in Freudenthal and the fairground on Papiermühlenplatz. In the Freudenwiesen area, the main aim is to create show gardens. The fairground on Papiermühlenplatz will serve as a prelude to the garden show with a marquee, large stage and garden and craft market.
