There is a gaping hole in Saxony's budget that can only be plugged with difficulty. Clubs and associations from many areas fear cuts. This also applies to equality policy.

Multiple associations in Saxony are warning against cuts to gender equality policy. "The progress made in equality policy is the result of decades of continuous work. Savings in this area would not only jeopardize what has already been achieved, but would also hinder future developments," reads a statement. It is signed by the Saxony State Women's Council, the Rural Women's Association and the State Working Group for Boys' and Men's Work, among others.

The associations stated that they welcome the fact that the Saxon government coalition sees equality as a cross-sectional task in all areas of society and wants to strengthen it. In the final negotiations on the double budget for the Free State, future work in this area must be ensured. Financial resources for equality work should not be cut, but rather increased in order to promote equal opportunities in Saxony.
