In a test of two 35-minute matches arranged at short notice, second-division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg defeated league rivals Eintracht Braunschweig 2:1 (2:0). Emir Kuhinja (17') and Alexander Nollenberger (21') scored for FCM, Saulo Decarli (64') scored the equalizer after a set-piece. Players who did not play or hardly played at all on Saturday against FC St. Pauli (1:0) were used in the closed-door game. The matchday squad was bolstered by players from the club's U23s. Last-minute new signing Bryan Teixeira made his debut for FCM and immediately provided the assist for the 1-0 opening goal. The international from Cape Verde had surprisingly joined the club on loan from Sturm Graz on the last transfer day.
