"Arbitrariness": VfB Suhl considers appeal against record penalty

VfB Suhl is considering an appeal against the record fine imposed on coach Laszlo Hollosy by the Volleyball Bundesliga. "This is pure arbitrariness against VfB Suhl," president Alexander Mantlik told "Freie Wort." Hollosy had been suspended for five games on Thursday for allegedly attacking the referee and the referee after the match in Vilsbiburg on October 11. During the match, the 46-year-old had seen a yellow-red card. Suhl has two days to file the appeal. "We are currently examining the facts and the reasons for the verdict and will then decide on further action," said Mantlik.

Hollosy, who did not want to comment on the verdict in more detail, denies the allegations, which the league, however, classified as implausible. Referee Tobias Kilger had reported a push against his right shoulder by the Hungarian. Hollosy is considered a repeat offender, already had to serve a red suspension in the 2021 playoffs. Previously, four-game suspensions from both 2010 and 2013 against former Friedrichshafen coach Stelian Moculescu were considered the league's record punishment.
