Basketball talent Ilias Amin has signed a professional contract with Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC. The 18-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the club from Weißenfels and will be the 14th player in the squad, the MBC announced. Amin is a 1.92-metre-tall build-up player who was a key contributor to USC Leipzig's promotion to the 1st Regional League in the 2023-24 season with an average of 9.2 points.
After finishing school, the player, who was born in Münster and grew up in Leipzig, will now concentrate fully on basketball for the time being. He will continue to gain match practice with the Saxons and also with cooperation partner BSW Sixers in the ProB on a dual license. In addition, U16 national player Mika Siegert will travel with the Wolves to a training camp in Slovenia and will then take part regularly in training.
"Ilias and Mika fit our profile perfectly. They are talents from the region and have already played in our MBA youth program. I also know Ilias from the BSW Sixers, where he was already in the extended squad in the past," said the new assistant coach Christopher Schreiber, who wants to carefully introduce both talents to the Bundesliga team of Head Coach Janis Gailitis.
