The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has been eliminated from the Champions League. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore lost the second encounter at home in the play-in games against Turkish first-division club Manisa Basket 84:87 (44:43). The club from Chemnitz lost the first game 86:87.
The Niners missed the start and trailed by 8:17 after five minutes. The German club turned the game around with a 14:2 run from 23:31 (13th minute) to 37:33 (17th minute).
After that, the two teams traded blows with the lead constantly changing hands. After trailing 65:70 in the 31st minute, the home side fought its way back to 78:76 in the 36th minute. However, the Turkish club turned the tide with a 5:0 run to make it 81:78 in the 37th minute and did not let its lead slip from its grasp in the final spell.
In the end, the number of turnovers decided the outcome of the encounter. Chemnitz conceded 15, while Manisa only gave the ball away six times in attack. Saxony's top scorer was Olivier Nkamhoua with 24 points.
