Anything can happen in the cup. Dresden are only outsiders against Fortuna Düsseldorf. However, the Elbe city team believes in itself.

Dynamo Dresden will not write off the DFB Cup match against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday (18:00/Sky) from the outset. Although his team are only outsiders against the second-division club, there is always the possibility of achieving something big in just one game, said Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm. The match is a first for the Swiss. "It's my first DFB Cup match as a coach, and I'm really looking forward to it," said Stamm.

During preparation, the team analyzed their opponents in detail and also took tips from Christoph Daferner, who has been on loan to Düsseldorf for the past six months. "They have a clear approach to how they want to play against the ball. It needs a very, very good game from us with the ball, positional play, a lot of movement, because what they do, they do very well. They are very well-rehearsed," said Stamm, who nevertheless repeatedly spoke of a game lasting 90 or 120 minutes.

No decision on goalkeeper position yet

However, he did not train penalty shoot-outs. "I'm not a fan of it, because you can't create the game situation," said the coach. He left it open as to whether he will give second goalkeeper Daniel Mesenhöler preference over regular keeper Tim Schreiber. "We haven't talked about that yet. I wouldn't have any stomach pains," said the coach.
