Without the suspended coach Pavel Dotchev, Aue beat Essen. However, the Violets did not put in a commanding performance.

FC Erzgebirge Aue moved up to sixth place in the third soccer league with a 2:1 (2:0) victory over Rot-Weiss Essen. In a far from convincing performance, Pascal Fallmann put the hosts ahead after just 13 minutes. In front of 7832 spectators, Marvin Stefaniak (44) gave them the lead at half-time, and Ahmet Arslan scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to level the scores. Lucas Brumme was shown a yellow card after the final whistle for complaining. Aue were without coach Pavel Dotchev, who was suspended for the match after picking up his fourth yellow card and was replaced by Jörg Emmerich.

Essen were the dominant and better team in the first half. Aue were very defensive, but were extremely efficient in taking advantage of their few chances. Fallmann made it 1-0 with his first shot on goal when he punished a defensive error by the visitors from an acute angle. It was his first third league goal. Stefaniak took the second chance of the game with his head after a Fallmann cross. The visitors had many very good chances, but failed to make anything of them. Not least because Erik Majetschak (39) made a very strong tackle after a running duel with Kelsey-Owusu Meisel to prevent a certain equalizer in the meantime.

After the break, Essen had six great chances to decide the game in their favour. However, these were missed miserably on several occasions. Aue only did as much as was absolutely necessary. There was only one chance to score, but Marcel Bär was too late with a sharp Stefaniak input.
