- To date, RB Leipzig and 1. FC Köln have met twelve times in the Bundesliga. Only two victories were achieved by the Cologne team. However, RB managed only a draw in each of the last two games. The only victory of the Rhinelanders in Leipzig succeeded in 2018.
- Of all things, Cologne (3:1) last managed the first win of the season in the derby against Gladbach. RB struggled in Darmstadt to a 3-1 win and shone in the 3-1 in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade only phasenweise.
- FC defender Jeff Chabot once played in the RB youth, before his path led via the Netherlands and Italy to Cologne. Davie Selke stormed from 2015 to 2017 for the Saxons, before he landed via Hertha and Bremen in the Rhineland.
- Bei Cologne's attack prevailed many weeks lull. Nevertheless, FC coach Steffen Baumgart does not want to deviate from his planned line and continue to play offensively forward. So far, there have only been seven goals in the season, three of them in the last game alone. RB, on the other hand, conceded only seven goals, scored 19 times.
- Against Cologne, Leipzig's Dani Olmo could get more game shares again. After coming on as a substitute against Belgrade in the Champions League, the Spaniard scored his sixth goal of the season in his sixth competitive game.
