RB has won the first test of its overseas trip. A drone and bodycams were also used.

RB Leipzig have won the first test match of their trip to the USA. The Saxons won 2-0 (2-0) against Premier League fourth-placed Aston Villa on Wednesday (local time). André Silva (17) and Loïs Openda (41) scored for coach Marco Rose's team in front of 11,000 spectators in New York. Villa defender Diego Costa was shown a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct after making it 2-0.

"There was a real caliber on the other side today. We scored two nice goals, that was good. In the second half, I would have liked us to play out one or two actions even more clearly," said Rose. His team dominated the game and their opponents, but failed to do more after numerous changes in the second half when outnumbered.

Important players still out

"I'd like us to keep at it and be even more consistent. We kept making slight mistakes in our passing. There was also room for improvement in our pressing. It was a good win, but we definitely still have work to do," said Rose, who will be without European Championship participants Benjamin Henrichs, David Raum and Dani Olmo as well as the injured Christoph Baumgartner and Xaver Schlager in the USA.

At the end of the week-long overseas trip, RB will play Wolverhampton Wanderers in Miami on Saturday (local time).

Technical innovations provide new images

A number of innovations were tested in the game in New York, some of which provided spectacular images. For example, Kevin Kampl and Villa player Morgan Rogers wore bodycams under their shirts. A so-called FPV drone hovered above the pitch, providing a new perspective from a height of just four meters. There was also a camera in the RB dressing room.
