RB Leipzig is speculating on a transfer fee for sporting director Max Eberl, who was released on Friday. According to Johann Plenge, chairman of the board of the Cup winner, the club has no plans to terminate Eberl's contract in the short term. "We have ad hoc the intention to focus on Manchester and Bochum. Then Max will come to us, then we will talk," said Plenge after the 2:2 against the German soccer record champion FC Bayern Munich. Eberl, because of missing commitment to RB suspended, is traded since May as a new sports director in Munich.
To Eberl's ex-club Mönchengladbach Leipzig paid a transfer fee of over two million euros. That is apparently to be recouped. "If someone approaches us, we will talk about the modalities. That hasn't happened yet," Plenge said. Eberl possesses in Leipzig still a long-term contract, which is to be valid according to media reports to 2026.
The managing director post of the 50-Jährigen is not to be occupied promptly likewise again. According to Plenge one wants to sit down with sport director Rouven Schröder in the international break, at the structure probably nothing will change. "We started the season well, so we want to continue," said the 38-year-old.
