SC Magdeburg has received the championship trophy and is preparing for the Champions League final. Coach Bennet Wiegert was named coach of the season for the second time.

SC Magdeburg was presented with the championship trophy at the end of the season. After the 37:34 win against HSG Wetzlar in the Bundesliga final on Sunday, Magdeburg's mayor Simone Borris presented the trophy to SCM captain Christian O'Sullivan. Afterwards, the team was expected at the city's town hall to celebrate with the fans on the market square. Successful coach Bennet Wiegert was also named coach of the season for the second time since 2022.

Magdeburg has played an exceptional season so far, winning the championship, the cup and the World Cup. The celebrations in the hall were correspondingly euphoric. Circle runner Lucas Meister, defensive specialist Piotr Chrapkowski, playmaker Janus Dadi Smarason and goalkeeper Mikael Aggefors are leaving the club at the end of the season.

In the end, SCM finished the league season with just two defeats and two draws, six points ahead of runners-up Füchse Berlin - and had both the best defense and the best attack in the league. The SCM also has one last chance to win the title next week: at the Final Four in Cologne, the Magdeburg team wants to win the Champions League title as it did last year.
