German champions SC Magdeburg will have to do without Philipp Weber for the time being. The 32-year-old backcourt player for the Bundesliga handball club suffered a muscle injury to his right thigh last Sunday in the Elbe city's 30:27 win over TBV Lemgo Lippe and is expected to be out for several weeks, according to the club.
Weber had injured himself in the last Bundesliga game before the national team week while trying to prevent a counter-attack without any major external influence and had to be substituted in the 48th minute. Prior to that, the 87-time German international had scored nine goals for Magdeburg and also recommended himself again for the DHB selection with his performance.
