Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has pressed ahead with its restructuring in the sports department under managing director Marcel Schäfer. Ex-professional Sebastian Schuppan has been promoted from Head of Sport to Sporting Director, succeeding Rouven Schröder, who has moved to Salzburg. Schuppan (38) will be responsible for the professional player, athletics and medical departments.
In addition, Daniel Baier will become the new sports coordinator from 15 February and will be responsible for scouting, data analytics and the Career Center. Baier was most recently a scout at FC Bayern Munich, before that at VfL Wolfsburg and FC Augsburg. As a professional, the 40-year-old was captain at Augsburg for many years.
