The abrupt end of the brilliant cup journey has caused great frustration for Leipzig coach Marco Rose. "I said it before the game, that this experience of winning the cup, the celebration afterwards, that this makes us feel so good, that we are like a kind of junkie in that area, who want to experience this again and again," Rose said on Tuesday evening after the 0:1 (0:1) in the second round of the DFB Cup at VfL Wolfsburg. "And that hurts then already that we are now out and no longer have this experience this year," said Rose.
The Leipziger had won the Cup in the past two years and thus fetched the first two titles in the still young club history. Long hold up with the "unnecessary defeat", however, can not be, said Rose. "We have no time at all to think about it for a long time, because we have to take care of getting points again in the league and because we are already playing Champions League again in Belgrade on Tuesday," Rose said, referring to the program that now lies ahead.
On Sunday, it's time for the Saxons to go to last-place FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga. Three days later, Leipzig is challenged in the Bundesliga at Red Star Belgrade.
