Construction prices in Saxony in August were significantly higher than in the same period last year. Although the price upswing has weakened slightly, it remains at a very high level, the State Statistical Office in Kamenz announced on Thursday. Accordingly, the new construction of a residential building in August cost 7.2 percent more than in the same month last year. For office buildings, it was 6.5 percent more and for commercial business buildings 6.2 percent.
In shell construction, masonry work (12.5 percent) and drainage channel work (9.9 percent) in particular became more expensive. In contrast, slight price decreases were recorded for carpentry and timber construction work (-2.6 percent) and steel construction work (-1.2 percent).
