Saxon winegrowers will be promoting fine wines from the region at the international trade fair "ProWein" (March 10 to 12). "The trade fair offers an excellent opportunity to introduce Saxony's excellent wine products to a knowledgeable trade audience," said Thomas Horn, Managing Director of Saxony's Economic Development Agency (WFS), in Dresden on Thursday. It is also an opportunity to position the wine-growing region globally due to the high international reach on the visitor side and thus open up new sales markets.
It is also about preserving a cultural landscape that is important for the Free State from a tourism perspective. "In order to make the cultivation of small-scale areas - mostly on steep slopes - attractive and sustainable for the future, there is no way around innovative technological solutions." Horn mentioned, for example, the use of drones to apply pesticides. The WFS wants to support winegrowers in such projects.
A total of nine wineries from Saxony are represented at this year's trade fair - including the state winery Schloss Wackerbarth and the Drei Herren winery from Radebeul.
