Due to financial difficulties, Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG must reposition itself. The company announced in Leipzig on Thursday that a restructuring and transformation concept is to be implemented in order to make the holding company of Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports fit for the future. The Group's management informed the workforce on Thursday afternoon about a restructuring report prepared by the auditing company KPMG.

"It confirms that Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG will be sustainably competitive and has good prospects for the future if the restructuring concept is implemented," the company announced. This should cover the financial requirements necessary for the further development of the company - in particular investments in infrastructure over the next three years. According to Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung, it can only be expected to continue operating successfully if the shareholders - the Free State of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt - inject fresh capital.
