FC Erzgebirge Aue lost again for the first time after five unbeaten games. The Saxon third-division club lost 3-0 (0-2) at SV Waldhof Mannheim on Saturday. The goals were scored by Bentley Baxter Bahn (24th and 60th) and Malte Karbstein (27th).

Both teams got off to a very even start in the match. Even though Aue had the best chances, Mannheim scored the first goal out of nowhere. Bahn (24) converted with his back to goal to make it 1:0. The next shock for Aue came just three minutes later: Karbstein converted a dangerous free-kick from Minos Gouras with his head to make it 2:0. After that, Aue controlled the game, as they had done before the brace, but were unable to create any goals until half-time.

The second half started without any major chances for either side. But then the situation from the first half was repeated and Mannheim scored without warning to make it 3:0. Marvin Stefaniak played an inaccurate pass that landed at Gouras' feet, who set up Bahn, who scored his second goal of the game. Aue remained too harmless. Only Stefaniak (70') and Maximilian Thiel (81') managed to score for the Violets in the second half. Mannheim even had the chance to make it 4-0 shortly before the end, but thanks to Martin Männel, the three goals remained.
