Every summer, pop singer Roland Kaiser turns the banks of the Elbe in Dresden into a show stage. The "Kaisermania" with concerts against the backdrop of the baroque old town skyline is a cult event - and always sells out.

Giant stage, unique backdrop, thousands of fans and onlookers - everything is ready on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden for the legendary "Kaisermania". Pop singer Roland Kaiser celebrates the start of this year's edition with four concerts on Friday evening. The 72-year-old will have a guest for the first time: German pop singer Georg Stengel, as a spokeswoman for management Semmel Concerts Entertainement GmbH revealed.

The "Kaisermania" is unique and a Dresden phenomenon. For 20 years, the singer has been turning the banks of the Elbe vis á vis into a party zone in front of a famous baroque backdrop - with his music. Tickets for the concerts at the Film Nights are always sold out within minutes, with fans traveling from home and abroad. Around the cordoned-off area, hundreds of onlookers join in the celebrations free of charge - on meadows, bridges and the opposite side of the old town.

Kaiser, a native Berliner, has had a very special love affair with the city on the Elbe since his first visit in 1990. He confesses time and again that he is attached to it and its people, and years ago even wrote an anthem for his "Dresden affair". Two concerts are planned for this weekend and the first weekend in August. There will even be a public viewing for the last performance with a TV broadcast - in the small community of Seeligstadt, a good 25 kilometers east of Dresden's Königsufer.
