Coca-Cola's classic soft drinks are still popular, but the US company has recently seen particularly strong growth in energy drinks and sports drinks in Germany. Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, the company responsible for bottling, sales and distribution, announced on Friday that Powerade, Fuze Tea and Monster had each recorded double-digit percentage growth in sales and volume last year.
The increase in sales is also due to higher sales prices. Coca-Cola had increased prices in 2022 and again in 2023. The company justified this with cost increases in the supply chain. Overall, Coca-Cola increased its turnover in Germany by 12.5 percent. The company did not provide an absolute figure for this.
According to the market research company NIQ, Coca-Cola achieved the largest increase in sales in food retail in Germany last year. Soft drinks also grew in the overall market in 2023 (8.5 percent). The volume fell by 1.9% compared to the previous year. The rather small sports drinks segment saw the strongest relative growth with an increase in sales of 39.3%.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners is the largest beverage company in Germany, according to its own figures, and employs around 6,500 people.
