The Oberlausitz Chamber Music Festival (KMO) will feature nine concerts in castles and churches in the East Saxon region this summer (August 15 to 21). The organizers have announced artists such as violist Nils Mönkemeyer and bayanist Alexandr Hustevich, who has already performed with Grammy award-winner Bobby McFerrin, as well as the Ensemble Polyharmonique, the Grundmann Quartet and the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra.
The Dresdner Kapellsolisten with harpist Serafina Jaffé will kick off the festival in the Baruth church and the East Side Brass - British brass band line-up with young people from music schools in Bautzen, Hoyerswerda, Görlitz and the Dreiländereck will play in Gröditz Castle Park. Mönkemeyer, artistic director of the KMO Academy, will conclude the festival as a soloist with the famous Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - as well as in a duo with Korean pianist William Youn.
The KMO is Saxony's youngest classical music festival and premiered in 2020. Combining landscape and nature as well as historical locations with the enjoyment of art and music, it quickly became a magnet in the classical music scene.
