In the first important jumping competition of the World Cup tournament in Leipzig, rider Julien Anquetin secured victory. The 32-year-old professional from France won the qualifying competition for the Grand Prix on Friday evening. In the saddle on Blood Diamond, he rode to a superior victory.
Hans-Dieter Dreher from Eimeldingen came second behind Anquetin in the saddle on Vestmalle. Jana Wargers from Emsdetten, who rode Dorette to fourth place, achieved the second-best result for the home riders. Last year's winner Christian Ahlmann from Marl only came 38th with D' Aganix.
After the Championat on Saturday (3.35 pm), the Grand Prix on Sunday (3 pm) is the highlight of the tournament in the exhibition hall. In the most important competition of the tournament, the show jumpers can collect points for the World Cup Final. World champion Henrik von Eckermann is currently leading the Western European League rankings ahead of Great Britain's Ben Maher. The best German is currently Dreher in ninth place ahead of Rene Dittmer from Stade in tenth place.
