RB Leipzig have strengthened their squad on the last day of the transfer window with Dutch international Lutsharel Geetruida. The captain of Feyenoord Rotterdam comes for a transfer fee of around 20 to 25 million euros and signed a contract until the end of June 2029. Leipzig had already come a long way with the 24-year-old last year, but negotiations with the club broke down. Now, the Dutch club were more willing to negotiate with the defender one year before his contract expired.
Mohamed Simakan is paving the way for Geertruida. The 24-year-old is on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia to Al-Nassr FC for 45 million euros. The defender is expected to sign a five-year contract with Cristiano Ronaldo's club at the weekend and earn more than twice as much as in Leipzig. It's a good deal for the Saxons, who brought Simakan from Strasbourg for €15 million in the summer of 2021. On Friday afternoon, only details remained to be clarified.
Away from Leipzig for the time being is U17 World Cup winner Winners Osawe. The midfielder is moving to second division side 1. FC Nürnberg. However, Leipzig have secured a buy-back right for the 17-year-old. The Saxons, on the other hand, will start the first half of the season with André Silva for the time being. There had been no corresponding inquiries for the Portuguese international by Friday afternoon. However, a move to a country where the transfer window is open for longer is still possible.
