Dresdner SC's volleyball players have averted an early exit from the Bundesliga play-offs for the time being. After the narrow 2:3 home defeat last Saturday, the team of coach Alexander Waibl won the second quarter-final match at VC Wiesbaden with a commanding 3:0 (25:22, 25:20, 25:18). The team from the Elbe city thus forced a decisive third game in the best-of-three series. As third in the preliminary round, the six-time German champions have home court again against the sixth-placed team on Saturday.
From the outset, the visitors from Dresden dictated the game in front of 1,876 spectators with powerful tasks, and this time they scored more variably than in the first duel from a stable reception. The visitors were also tactically well-adjusted in their block and court defense. In tight situations, Waibl's charges kept their nerve and played with a good overview. After the Hessians had lost the second set, their resistance was broken. The DSC converted their second match point after 82 minutes.
