Highways during the vacations: Number of traffic jams decreases, idle time increases

Motorists were stuck in traffic jams on Saxony's autobahns significantly longer during the summer vacations than in the previous year. In the six vacation weeks, vacationers and travelers spent more than 12.5 hours longer standing together on the autobahn, according to the congestion balance sheet of the automobile club ADAC Saxony published on Tuesday. In the process, the number of traffic jams decreased by 212 compared to the 2022 summer vacations. Also the traffic jam lengths sank by a total of 383 kilometers.

Particularly much patience was in demand in the vacation season on the busy and 2023 again interrupted by numerous construction sites east-west tangent A4. 980 traffic jams were registered here with a total length of just under 1800 kilometers. Because of the many heavy goods vehicles and partly in permanent traffic jams, traffic was at a standstill here for more than 1063 hours.
