Passengers on some regional rail services in Saxony will also be affected by the warning strike announced by the train drivers' union GDL. The Mitteldeutsche Regionalbahn (MRB) with routes in Dresden, Chemnitz, Leipzig and Zwickau announced on Monday that MRB lines could only be operated to a very limited extent. The company, which is part of the Transdev operation, criticized the GDL for not resuming negotiations despite offers of an eleven percent pay rise and an inflation bonus that had already been paid out.
City-Bahn in Chemnitz also announced that it was affected by the strike. Managing Director Friedbert Straube described the demand for a 35-hour week as dishonest. He added that attempts would be made to run at least the important school trains on the morning of the announced strike days.
The Länderbahn with the Vogtlandbahn and Trilex in Saxony are not directly affected by the strikes, according to their own information. The reason for this is the wage agreement reached on December 12, 2023. The train drivers' union GDL plans to strike in passenger transport from Wednesday, 2.00 am to Friday, 6.00 pm.
