Saxony is planning 100 activities in 30 countries to support small and medium-sized enterprises in accessing international markets.

Saxony wants to support small and medium-sized companies as they enter the international market. Around 100 activities in 30 countries are planned for this year, as announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Thursday. The annual plan of the Saxony Foreign Trade Initiative includes information and advice days, business trips and participation in trade fairs. In Europe, for example, the initiative will travel to Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy and Spain, but Japan, the USA and India are also among the destinations.

"Saxony's economic success is largely based on global networking and the international division of labor," said Economics Minister Martin Dulig at the top-level meeting on foreign trade in Leipzig, according to the press release. Cross-border networking remains an indispensable component of entrepreneurial success.

According to the information, around a third of Saxony's economic output is attributable to exports. Saxony exported goods worth 49.7 billion euros in 2023 - the second-best figure after the record year of 2022 (53.2 billion euros). Imports amounted to 36 billion euros, reaching a new high. China occupies the top spot among both Saxony's export and import partners. Neighboring Poland and the Czech Republic are both among the top 5 markets.
