CDU and state farmers' association criticize policy of the traffic light coalition in the federal government

The CDU leadership in Saxony has joined forces with the state farmers' association to harshly criticize the policies of the traffic light coalition in the federal government. "The agricultural policy of the traffic light coalition is exemplary of the poor work of this federal government. If you want local food, you must not impose more and more burdens on agricultural businesses," said Minister President and CDU state leader Michael Kretschmer on Saturday after a meeting with association head Torsten Krawczyk. The Saxon CDU therefore stands by the farmers and supports their demand that more and more burdens must stop.

"We finally need to focus on growth again and not on the pet projects of the traffic light parties. That means affordable energy, a strong social market economy, more freedom and common sense in political decisions," emphasized Kretschmer. An "erratic political style" of the traffic light coalition had led to a lot of uncertainty and anger in Germany. "The federal government is constantly making new wrong decisions, causing more and more resentment among the people. Raising taxes in a phase of a weakening economy is poison for the economy."

According to Krawczyk, the Saxon farmers are representative of the economy and for a change in economic policy. "Tax increases are not measures to increase prosperity. Prosperity must first be earned. That is why we are currently perceived as synonymous with the problems and the resulting dissatisfaction of the economy." Politicians must "finally learn again to listen to the people and entrepreneurs who create the country's prosperity". The CDU does not stand for left, right or center politics and their power struggles, but for a strong domestic economy.

At a closed meeting, the CDU state executive board adopted a paper entitled "Strengthening agriculture, maintaining security of supply". It states, among other things, that more and more of the 7,000 agricultural businesses in Saxony are at risk because the political framework conditions are not reliable for sustainable farming and investment. "The federal government has caused enormous uncertainty in the agricultural sector. Too much is too much: the disproportionate cuts by the traffic light government have caused the barrel to overflow." Nationwide farmers' protests have been announced for Monday.
