With a new "Study in Saxony" campaign, the Ministry of Science wants to attract young people from abroad to study in the Free State. "We can confidently advertise Saxony as a study location with the best conditions and good career opportunities," said department head Sebastian Gemkow (CDU) at the launch in Dresden. "Study in Saxony" aims to draw attention to the wide range of study opportunities and support the universities in their recruitment efforts - with traditional formats such as trade fairs, flyers and posters, but above all through a strong social media presence.
Studies the first step towards a career in Saxony
Gemkow pointed out that many industries need skilled workers with an academic education. "Studying at a university in Saxony can be the first step towards a great career here," he said. The campaign aims to raise awareness of Saxony as a place to study in a modern way with its broad-based and excellently equipped universities.
According to the ministry, around 100,000 people are enrolled at universities in the state. "Study in Saxony" is intended to help ensure that this level is maintained in the coming years, despite the demographic trend in Germany. The campaign follows on from its predecessor "Pack dein Studium. Best in Saxony.", which was designed to attract prospective students from within Germany since 2009 and expired at the end of June.
