A Bundeswehr convoy is rolling through the eastern German states. What drivers need to be aware of on the 450-kilometer route.

A convoy of around 150 Bundeswehr vehicles will be rolling from Gera in Thuringia through Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Brandenburg to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this weekend. The 701 Armoured Engineer Battalion is being deployed for training activities and will cover a distance of more than 450 kilometers on freeways and main roads, according to the Bundeswehr Operational Command.

The convoy is divided into several groups traveling at different times. The convoys were slow-moving columns of vehicles up to one kilometer long. Drivers were asked to keep a large distance and not to sit between individual vehicles. However, the exact route will not be communicated for military security reasons.
