After tough talks, an agreement has been reached: Globalfoundries in Dresden will pay higher wages from July - and open up the collective agreement to other employees.

Around 2,800 employees of chip manufacturer Globalfoundries in Dresden will receive more money, according to the trade union. An increase of 2.5 percent in two stages was agreed with the company on July 1 and a further 3 percent on April 1, 2026, the IG BCE trade union announced. The Managing Director of Globalfoundries was also quoted in the press release. The company did not initially issue a statement when asked.

At the same time, the company collective agreement will be extended to other employee groups such as firefighters, trainees and entry-level engineers. This means that 500 more employees will now be paid according to the collective agreement. According to the union, it took six rounds of negotiations to reach the agreement.
