At Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports, staff are to be reduced through a cost-cutting program. "We have to achieve a positive operating result by 2026 - for the first time in our history. That's why we have no choice but to cut corners," said the CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, Götz Ahmelmann, to the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper and the Sächsische Zeitung newspaper.
"We are a company in a restructuring phase." Layoffs have not been ruled out. "We are currently talking about around 250 fewer jobs in 2026," said Ahmelmann. "We are trying to avoid redundancies, but we are not ruling anything out."
Other areas are also to be restructured. "For example, parking will become more expensive. We are also trying to negotiate new conditions with suppliers," emphasized Ahmelmann.
The CEO believes that Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG is on the right track overall. "We were in a critical situation last year because we only had enough money until the end of the year. The business plan now gives us a perspective for the next two years to establish economic stability."
