The inflation rate in Saxony is back above the three percent mark. According to preliminary figures, the annual inflation rate in July was 3.1 percent, as announced by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz on Tuesday. In June, the figure had fallen to 2.8 percent, while in May it had also been 3.1 percent.

According to the statisticians, services in particular have become more expensive compared to 2023. Prices rose by 4.3 percent. In contrast, people only had to pay 1.9 percent more for goods than in the previous year.

Consumer prices rose by 0.6 percent in July compared to June. Typical for the vacation season, air fares (up 18.3 percent) and prices for package tours (up 10.1 percent) in particular rose, the statistics office reported.
