Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer has once again spoken out against the German government's planned cuts to agricultural diesel. "I have promised that we will not agree to this reduction in the Bundesrat on Friday," said the CDU politician ahead of the foreign cabinet meeting in Oschatz on Tuesday. Before the meeting in the district of North Saxony, several dozen farmers had gathered to demonstrate against the federal government's agricultural policy.
The Bundestag and Bundesrat want to decide on the so-called Budget Financing Act on Friday - which includes cuts to agricultural diesel, among other things.
Kretschmer criticized the planned cuts as a "list of cruelties" that would make agricultural production more expensive. He could not change the fact that the majority would probably still approve the law. Nevertheless, he remains confident.
