Before winter operations begin, the suspension railroad and funicular in Dresden are put through their paces.

Dresden's mountain railroads will be taking a two-week break from operations due to the routine fall inspection. The legally required inspection of the suspension railroad will begin next Monday (November 4), as announced by the Dresden transport company. The first ride on the suspension railroad will start on November 16 at 10:00 am. From then on, the winter timetable will apply.

According to the information provided, the inspection will focus on the condition of the 33 steel supports and the track girder on which the two carriages are suspended. The electrics, the hoisting machine in the mountain station, the cable car control system and all parts of the running gear will also be checked.

After the inspection of the suspension railroad, the technicians will move on to the neighboring funicular railroad, which will be inspected from 18 November to 29 November 2024. There, for example, the visual inspection of the haul rope is on the agenda.

The overhauls will bring the summer season to an end for both cable cars. During the break, they will also be prepared for winter operation. The usual winter timetable will then apply.
