Skiers had plenty of opportunities to pursue their hobby in the Ore Mountains this year. Now the last slope has also been closed - at least on the Saxon side.

The ski season in Saxony has come to an end. On Wednesday, the Fichtelberg, the largest alpine ski resort in the Free State, also ceased operations. Although there are still very good conditions on the Himmelsleiter, demand has recently been low, the Fichtelberg Schwebebahn announced on its website.

This means that only the historic suspension railroad on Saxony's highest mountain is currently still in operation - for the time being until Sunday. Then the annual maintenance begins until shortly before Easter.

If you want to go skiing again, you can still find it in the Ore Mountains: Some ski slopes are still open on the Keilberg on the Czech side.
